The Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights to which the case Kavala v. Türkiye (no. 2), no. 2170/24, had been allocated has relinquished jurisdiction in favour of the Grand Chamber of the Court.

The case concerns the applicant’s detention and conviction after the Kavala v. Turkey (no. 28749/18) judgment of 10 December 2019 that concerned the applicant’s pre-trial detention and in which the Court found violations of Articles 5 and 18. In its judgement of 11 July 2022 (Kavala v. Türkiye (infringement proceedings), no. 28749/18), the Court found that Türkiye had failed to comply with the first judgment.
