Referral of Z and Others v. Finland to the Grand Chamber

The Panel of the Grand Chamber decided on 11 May 2026 that the following case be referred to the Grand Chamber: Z and Others v. Finland, no. 42758/23.
The case concerns the domestic courts’ decision to order the return two children from Finland to Russia under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction following removal by their father without their mother’s consent. The father was granted asylum in Finland and, consequently, asylum status was automatically accorded to the children.
