On 15 October 2026, the Panel of the Grand Chamber accepted the request for an advisory opinion submitted by the Supreme Court of the Netherlands concerning whether Article 6 and/or Article 7 of the Convention permit the retroactive application of a statutory scheme permitting a review of criminal proceedings that ended in a final acquittal, to the detriment of a former defendant.
